Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® was the first Greek Letter Sorority for African American women founded on the campus of Howard University on January 15, 1908.  In our 115-year legacy, our current International Program, Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood, led by our International President Danette Anthony Reed, is a call to action and a call to service.

The five initiatives that support our International Program are:

Empower Our Families

Build Our Economic Wealth

Enhance Our Environment

Advocate for Social Justice

Uplift Our Local Community

Since 1943, Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter has provided service through programs and community outreach, we are committed to continuing our rich history of service to the City of Savannah and to all mankind.  With our current chapter membership of over 200 talented, dedicated, visionary, and diverse college-educated women we will continue to work extremely hard to foster the precepts of the sorority.

Additionally, Gamma Sigma Omega Chapter is honored and proud to sponsor two undergraduate chapter, Gamma Upsilon, located on the campus of Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia and Sigma Tau located on the campus of Georgia Southern University Armstrong Campus in Savannah, Georgia.  We take our roles as mentors to our undergraduate sisters seriously and engage with them throughout the year.
